For those of you interested in knowing, I'm doing quite splendid. I can't complain with the winter though there have been some down points. Here's a summing up of what's been happening in my uneventful life:
I finally got my truck back after it was T-boned in an intersection by a jeep sliding through a red light (icy conditions) back in November, so that's nice. Wheels again and it looks just as it did before, if not better! My dad's own truck imploded in that same month (a week after my accident) due to a series of unfortunate events involving a broken oil pressure gauge (by the shop installing his air pump), a failed attempt to check the oil the morning after my dad got back from the hospital for a minor heart attack, and the consequent blowing up of the engine due to lack of oil. Dad blames himself, and understandably he should have checked it, but it had been a stressful weekend. For someone who has spent his entire life eating healthy by most standards, and can do 150 push ups and 50 chin ups 4 times a week at the age of 66, nobody was really expecting what happened. On the brighter side, it was largely suspected to be genetic and was extremely mild, almost to the point of not really being considered a true heart attack, but there was a blockage and they put a stint in.
Then I went to Maui! Well, December happened first. Kind of in a blur actually. We (my boyfriend, Justin, and I) were originally talking about going to Thailand, but then they erupted into civil war and we decided on Maui instead, because I'd never been to Hawaii and he did it last year and loved it. It rained the first 3 days we were there. Like, monsoon raining. And we camped out the entire time in a tent. I was not pumped about the rain, having camped in it a lot over the years on hunting expeditions. Neither of us was particularly pumped about it. But, the rain eventually moved on and we saw the sun, until it rained again. Which it did. Not for as long this time though. We eventually got 4 days of nice weather and the snorkeling was tremendous.
I haven't snorkeled much. I took a crack at it many years ago on a sailing ship cruise in the Caribbean, but I didn't have fins then, which I discovered is the ticket to enjoying your snorkeling experience. It was awesome. I couldn't get enough of it. We swam for hours, literally. Sadly there were no sharks or manta rays, what I most wanted to see, but there were turtles. And giant snails. Two different varieties of giant snail actually. We free dived a bunch, as much as 40 feet and perhaps more than that. I'd love to get better at it - I can't hold my breath for ****. It was a great time and I can't wait to go snorkeling again.
Now I'm waiting for a new computer (and to find out what my work schedule is this summer)! Maybe I can start writing consistently again. Eh heh, maybe. But my lap top has been dying for some time. There's not much life left in it and I wanted to get something better than anything I've had in the past. Hopefully that's what it is, but I won't know for another couple of weeks at least since it's on slight back order.
Also, I now own land after my parents bought the rest of the surrounding acres that our lot was original purchased from, for a total of 72 acres. A portion of it is mine as inheritance from my grandparents enabled us to buy the land in the first place, and that belongs to everyone in the family. I'm looking into buying a yurt. That's right, a yurt! Could be fun. One of my neighbors lived in a yurt. Grant it the winters might get chilly, but it's still in the investigation phase right now so that could all change. Yurts aren't cheap.
I guess I should talk about art since that's what this site is for. I haven't done much lately. I took a bunch of pictures on Maui, some of which I thought were awesome, but not having a professional grade camera I don't think anybody cares much for pictures that aren't professional. Understandable. It's not like I've sold artwork either so I suppose I might as well be a wannabe artist when it comes to my drawings too. A little sad though given the amount of time and energy has gone into some of those drawings. Such is life and devianart.
Have a fine day.
Kodiak
...is pretty much the greatest place ever, and I haven't even seen it at its best, which is during the summer. They call it "the Emerald Island" for a reason and you can see why just from the photos of it. I've only ever been down there in the spring and fall, but it's still one of my favorite places. We have a small cabin in Zachar Bay, which is about half way down the island from the town of Kodiak, on the west side.
Anyhow, I have recently returneth from that great and wondrous place. Monday night to be exact. I started work with Fish and Game on Wednesday, again. I was building weir panels for them earlier this year, but now I'm back to

Swollen Lymph Nodes
...and why they suck. Mine are in the throat, adding another layer of awesome into the equation with a constant throat ache, inside and out. Then there's the fever, cold sweats, and chills. The head ache and the lack of energy are both nice touches as well, although it's more like a full body ache at the moment. And I thought I'd gotten over that portion last week...sigh.
The moral of this story is that I'm dying. Although it is taking its sweet time about it. I'm almost at the two week marker and I still haven't died yet, dammit!
That's not at all over dramatized or embellished. Nope, no way. Not at all...yea it totally is. I'm allergic to
Year of the Mosquito
So looking at that last journal entry horrifies me now, hence its sudden and mysterious disappearance. Which calls for an update on life because...well...I've got so many avid followers :XD:. What would they do without me?! All joking aside - maybe - I'm going through the motions because it's here and I get bored of seeing the same journal entry on my page whenever I visit my profile. A change has gotta happen.
Mosquitoes. This is probably one of the worst mosquito years I've ever seen in Alaska. In some places where they are at their worst you can't get in and out of your vehicle without 50 of the little buggers rushing the door. As my job
